Foam across the full underside of the roof, thick enough to bury the rafters. With it in place a surveyor cannot see the timbers, the battens or the felt, so the condition of the roof cannot be signed off either way — which is where most of these calls start.
It also seals the roof up. Air stops moving through the space, and moisture that used to vent out has nowhere to go.
The foam was taken off by hand across the whole slope and bagged as it came away, rather than dropped and swept up afterwards. The rafters and the felt behind them were cleaned back so the structure is visible and inspectable again.
With the roof reopened, insulation went back in at joist level — mineral wool laid between the joists, where it belongs, rather than sprayed onto the roof itself.
